Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from March of that year.

Victory also signifies he has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an better service.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

He saved 4 initial break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
